OUR ENVIRONMENTAL CONTRIBUTION

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL CONTRIBUTION

Our ecological footprint represents the amount of the environment necessary to produce the resources we need to support our lifestyle. Of course, since the world we live in is not infinitely large, we must be respectful of it and the resources available.

FRESH FROM THE BLACK FOREST

Water is one of the most fundamental commodities in our lives, which is why it is so important to use it carefully and purposefully so nothing goes to waste. Our Black Forest spring water, which stems from its own source in Calw at a depth of 166 meters, is both uncontaminated and very soft. This makes it the perfect starting point for our cosmetic products. We also offer our visitors and employees at BÖRLIND our own deep spring water as a refreshing drink, and it goes without saying that this is served in sustainable, refillable glass Soulbottles. The great thing about Soulbottles is that they are completely free from harmful substances and plastic. In addition to being vegan friendly, they are produced in fair-trade, climate-neutral processes, and €1 from every bottle goes toward drinking water projects involving Viva con Agua and Welthungerhilfe.

“Made in the Black Forest” is more than just a promise of quality, it’s also a symbol of our social responsibility.

CLIMATE PROTECTION PROJECT IN CAMBODIA

Since 2015 our production processes are climate-neutral and we compensate for our CO2 emissions by supporting a ClimatePartner project for water treatment in Cambodia. The project focuses on access to clean drinking water for households in Cambodia’s rural regions, as these are renowned for their extremely poor quality of water. The traditional method for preparing water here is to boil it first, which calls for firewood to be burned. Water filters in these parts do not require any electricity or operating materials. Once filtered, the water can be tapped from a faucet. By doing away with the need to pre-boil water in Cambodia, we are compensating for our CO2 emissions as a result of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions.

As a company, one of our top priorities is to reduce our energy consumption in order to reduce CO2 emissions. The ways in which we do this include using CO2-neutral services from our parcel and mail carriers, planning our sales routes to be as environmentally efficient as possible, relying on ecological power, and reusing previously generated power over and over again.

Our status as a manufacturing company means we can never eliminate our CO2 emissions entirely, but we are constantly doing the best we can to keep our environmental footprint to a minimum. You can find out more about the compensation program and the climate project we support here.

SUSTAINABLY PACKAGED

Our BODY CARE range is all about sustainability. For some of our packaging, we use plastic containers made from renewable raw materials, such as sugar cane from responsible cultivation sources. In the future, we would also like to further increase the use of recyclable materials that are state-of-the-art and consistent with our quality standards.
