“Mittelstandspreis” for social responsibility in Baden-Württemberg 2011

In its fifth year, the “Mittelstandspreis” for social responsibility cements its leading position as the competition with the highest number of participants in Germany for distinguishing the activities of small and medium-sized companies in the area of social responsibility. Under the motto “performance – commitment – recognition”, this prize pays tribute to the voluntary social commitment of these companies.

Börlind received the award in the category “up to 500 employees”, and was distinguished for its shea butter project in Mali. Here, female workers in particular are given courses in the areas of quality control and health and hygiene in a purpose-built training center. They are also taught how to read and write.

The “Mittelstandspreis” is awarded by Caritas in Baden-Württemberg and the Department of Commerce of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. All Baden-Württemberg companies (with a maximum of 500 employees) which support charitable associations, social organizations, initiatives, institutions or (sports) clubs in different ways, and have set up a project in cooperation with them, were invited to apply. The public recognition of these accomplishments is also intended as a motivation to sustain this commitment.
